Filler Dissolving

Filler Dissolving – Hyaluronidase Treatment
Safely dissolve unwanted or misplaced filler with precision and care

Purpose :

To dissolve previously injected hyaluronic acid filler in cases of overfilling, asymmetry, migration, visible lumps, or poor placement. Hyaluronidase is also used in emergency settings to treat complications such as vascular occlusion.

How it works :

An enzyme called hyaluronidase (Hyalase) is injected into the affected area to break down and dissolve hyaluronic acid filler. Local anaesthetic may be used to reduce discomfort. A patch test can be performed beforehand to rule out allergic reactions if you’ve never had the treatment before. In selected cases, we also use ultrasound to help visualise filler placement and guide treatment with extra precision and safety.

Results :

The filler begins to break down almost immediately after injection, with visible reduction often noticeable within a few hours. Most patients see clear improvement within 24–72 hours. Multiple sessions may be needed depending on the amount and type of filler to be removed.

Duration :

This treatment results in permanent removal of the targeted filler. If desired, new filler can usually be injected 1–2 weeks after full resolution.

Price :

2000 kr per 300 IU vial.

Time :

15–30 minutes depending on the area and complexity

FAQ

Will it remove all the filler in one session?

It depends on the amount and type of filler used. In many cases, significant reduction is seen after one session, but additional treatments may be needed for complete dissolving.

Will it also dissolve my natural hyaluronic acid?

The enzyme used (hyaluronidase) can break down natural hyaluronic acid, but it primarily targets synthetic filler. The body regenerates natural hyaluronic acid over time.

Does it hurt?

A mild burning or stinging sensation may occur during injection, but discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived.

Does it work on permanent or non-hyaluronic acid fillers?

No, filler dissolving only works on hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It does not affect permanent fillers or those made from other materials.

Do you use ultrasound for this treatment?

Yes, in complex cases we may use ultrasound to see where the filler is located and guide treatment more precisely. While not always necessary, this can add extra safety and reassurance. At ProDerma clinics in Lillestrøm (near Oslo) and Tromsø, filler dissolving with Hyalase is performed safely and precisely, with ultrasound used when needed.
