Sculptra

Sculptra (PLLA) – Collagen Stimulator for Natural Volume & Skin Quality
Restore lost volume and improve skin firmness by stimulating your body’s own collagen production

Purpose :

Sculptra is designed to gradually restore facial volume, improve skin quality, and reduce signs of aging by stimulating collagen growth. It’s ideal for patients with facial hollowness, sagging, or loss of elasticity who want natural, long-lasting improvement without looking “overfilled.”

How it works :

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that triggers your skin to produce new collagen over time. It is injected into targeted areas such as the cheeks, temples, jawline, or lower face. Unlike fillers, Sculptra does not provide instant volume — results build gradually as your body produces collagen.

Results :

Improvements appear gradually over 2–3 months, with continued enhancement for up to 6 months as collagen increases. The results are subtle, natural-looking, and long-lasting, typically 2 years or more.

Duration :

Most patients need 2–3 treatment sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The effects can last over 2 years, and touch-ups may be done to maintain results.

Price :

From 3750 kr per session (per vial)

Time :

45–60 minutes

FAQ

Is Sculptra the same as filler?

No. Hyaluronic acid fillers add instant volume, while Sculptra stimulates your body’s collagen production. Results build gradually over months and look more natural, with effects that last much longer.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients need 2–3 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on your level of volume loss, skin condition, and treatment goals.

Does it hurt?

Discomfort is usually minimal. A local anaesthetic is mixed with the product to make injections more comfortable. Mild soreness or swelling afterwards is normal and subsides within a few days.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Results build gradually, starting around 2–3 months, with full effects at 6 months. Improvements often last more than 2 years.

Is it safe, and are there side effects?

Yes. Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which has been used safely in medicine for decades. Temporary redness, swelling, or bruising is common. Rarely, small lumps can appear under the skin, but these are minimised with correct technique and aftercare. At ProDerma in Lillestrøm (near Oslo) and Tromsø, we offer Sculptra treatments with a focus on gradual, natural skin rejuvenation.

Can Sculptra be used for other areas than the face?

Yes. While most common for the face, Sculptra is also used off-label to improve hip dips, buttocks, and even cellulite by stimulating collagen and smoothing the skin. Suitability depends on individual assessment.
