If you are bothered by unwanted fat accumulation under the chin, you can now experience pride in lifting head instead of bending the neck to hide a double chin. Double hooks can have many causes and even thin people can be bothered by it. Fortunately, there is now a very effective, safe and permanent solution when using fat dissolver
injections.

What is a double chin and what is the cause?

Double chin is simply extra fat under the chin. The most common cause is obesity, but not everyone with a double chin is overweight. Slim can also get a double chin when the body fat is unevenly distributed, which happens differently in different people and is often genetic. Even thin people can be bothered by a double chin, and it can be difficult or virtually impossible to slim or train it away. As the skin loses elasticity and the muscles change with age, more can appear, even if the weight is stable. This is what we call loose skin, and is not the same as a double chin.

What is deoxycholic acid and how does it work?
Deoxycholic acid is a molecule naturally produced in your body and helps with the digestion of fat. Deoxycholic acid came to market in 2015 and dissolves fat cells permanently when injected into adipose tissue. Products containing deoxycholic acid are Belkyra, Kybella, Pluryal Bodycontour Mesoline and DesoBody. DesoBody can be used to dissolve fat in other parts of the body like abdomen, flanks, saddlebags, inner and outer thighs, inner knees, upper arms, back rolls and bra fat in the forearms. What’s involved in a treatment with deoxycholic acid?
Treatment involves injecting small amounts of deoxycholic acid into the submental fat (the fat under the chin) at several sites in the area. The skin in the area will then tighten and you will experience a more marked profile. The number o injections you need depends on the amount of fat under your chin. The treatment itself takes between 15-20 minutes and involves no surgery whatsoever.

To achieve the desired result, several treatments may be required; the number depending on the amount of fat to be removed. The fat reduction is permanent and a typical treatment regimen is 1-3 times at 4-6-week intervals.

What happens after a treatment? Are there any side effects?
Deoxycholic acid is well tolerated by most people, but the treatment itself can cause swelling in the area for up to 7 days. Other possible side effects include local pain and itching, nausea, numbness, erythema (redness of the skin), dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and transient hypertension (high blood pressure). You can go back to work immediately after a treatment.

What results can I expect?
Most people who receive treatment experience a visible improvement in the chin profile after 8 weeks, but from experience anywhere from two to four treatments are required for a noticeable result. For some individuals, up to six treatments are required to achieve optimal results.

The time interval between each treatment should always be at least 4 weeks. Once the desired result is achieved, no further treatment is usually required.

Am I eligible for treatment?
Most people between 18-65 are good candidates for treatment with deoxycholic acid in the neck area.

People who have an infection in the treatment area must wait until the infection has resolved. Although extremely rare, people with hypersensitivity to deoxycholic acid cannot be treated.

Price?
Ordinary price is NOK 3000,- per treatment.
